Visitors from the US, UK and other countries must first obtain a visa before they will be permitted to enter Russia. A valid passport and other documents are required for obtaining a visa.

Under the Russian Federation visa-free regime, following foreign citizens do not require a visa for visits:

Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kirghiz Republic, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Peru, Panama, Paraguay, Serbia, The Republic of South Africa, Thailand, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela


Moscow follows the Moscow Time zone, followed by St. Petersburg and most of western Russia as well. Moscow Time is UTC+3. Moscow does not observe daylight savings.


As the registration fees do not cover insurance of any kind, you should take out a travel insurance policy that at least covering medical expense while you are in Russia and cost of medical evacuation in case it is needed.


Moscow is served by three major international airports - Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME) and Vnukovo (VKO). All three airports are connected with the city center by Aeroexpress trains and taxis. If you would prefer to take a taxi to you should order it from the kiosks located on the arrival area at all terminals. It is not recommended to use a non-official taxi for safety reasons and because their prices can be 4-5 times higher than official taxi offers. The average price of taxi from Airport to Moscow center is RUB 1500-2000 in an economy class car.
